Critical Care Technologist and Emergency Medicine Instructor

Hugo Minnaar is a Clinical Technologist that has specialised in Critical Care (Critical Care Technologist). He has a special interest in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Transportation, ECMO and Vascular access. He is also experienced in diagnostic procedures and diagnostic services, such as: Ultrasonography (Abdominal, Pelvic, Vascular and Heart), Spirometry (Lung Function) and Cardiac Monitoring (ECG, Stress ECG and 24-hour Holter).

He is a BLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support for Experienced Providers (ACLS-EP), Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) and Tactical Medicine (TACMED) instructor and has been for the last 10 years.

He has worked in the Academic field (Steve Biko Academic Hospital) as a trainer for Critical Care Technologist Students, Nurses and Doctors in Intensive Care Units, Theatre (Anesthetic Assistance), High Care, Pulmonology & Emergency Department in Critical Care Procedures and Monitoring Critically ill patients.

He has both in-hospital experience as well as 20 years’ experience in the pre-hospital Emergency Medical Care field in both Primary response, Ambulance and Air response services. He has business experience in the healthcare environment and was a Director at various medical and ambulance services companies. In addition, he has been a Police Reservist at various specialised units. 

Mr Minnaar is currently also a Strategic Alliance Partner with LifeXMed (Pty) Ltd. who offer a number of medical services, two medical practices and a wide range of health products in the conventional and integrative medicine healthcare industry in South Africa.
